Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations. Duties:
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures
- Provide training to employees on safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and hazard recognition
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, training sessions, and other relevant documentation
- Collaborate with management to develop emergency response plans and ensure their effective implementation
- Stay up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and industry best practices
- Fabricate safety signs, labels, or other materials as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements
- Familiarity with workers' compensation laws and reporting procedures
- Strong report writing skills to document incidents, investigations, and recommendations
- First aid certification is preferred
- Knowledge of EPA regulations is a plus
- Experience in training development is highly desirable
