Safety/Loss Prevention Manager - Construction is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing the safety and loss prevention program for a company's construction department.     Blinderman Construction is looking for an experienced Quality Control Manager to join our team. The Quality Control Manager will join a project’s Quality Control Team and be responsible for the oversight, review, and inspection of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) work, ensuring compliance with the Project Construction Quality Control Plan.  This role is based on an active construction site at Fort McCoy in Sparta, WI.

    Your Role and Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Project Executive, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

    • Coordinate with the project’s Quality Control Manager to ensure all MEP work complies with the contract requirements, minimizing quality issues and rework
    • Review project design documents and provide feedback to project team regarding constructability issues, value engineering, scope, gaps, etc.
    • Assist the Project Team with change modifications associated with MEP systems installation
    • Perform timely site inspections, coordinate quality tests, and issue reports; Suggest improvements and track deficiencies and corrective actions
    • Coordinate directly with MEP subcontractors for successful completion of project requirements and scheduling of performance testing
    • Maintain quality program records that document all activities are completed in compliance with the contract requirements, regulations, and codes
    • Ensure compliance with procedures for scheduling, reviewing, certifying, and managing submittals for contractor, subcontractors, and vendors
    • Document and track all preparatory, initial, and follow-up control phases and acceptance testing
    • Hold authority to stop work that is not in compliance with the contract requirements
    • Confirm MEP systems are operating as intended prior to final completion
    • Cultivate positive relationships with the key stakeholders, customers, designers, and subcontractors
    • Demonstrate professionalism in resolving issues/disputes and promote collaboration among team
    • Act in a manner that positions Blinderman as a preferred choice for future business opportunities with our clients

    What You Offer

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management with a minimum of 5 years related experience is required
    • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years documented experience in related federal construction projects is acceptable
    • Expertise in construction industry best practices, procedures, concepts, and an overall understanding of construction contracts and documentation
    • Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification highly desirable
    • Experience with various Federal quality control programs and their requirements is preferred
    • EM-385 or OSHA 30 is desired
    • Ability to obtain specialized certification or licensing dependent on Company and Project requirements
    • Flexibility to work extended work hours to meet deadlines

    Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

    • Work is performed at the construction site almost exclusively.
    • Frequent walking, standing, using hands to handle equipment, talk, hear.
    • Occasional sitting, reaching, climbing, kneeling.
    • May lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
