Safety Representative outlines and implements training programs to educate and inform workforce on work safety, environmental safety, and accident prevention regulations and procedures. Develops and distributes educational materials including videos, guides, and posters. Being a Safety Representative tracks and documents accidents to understand causes and recommend changes to prevent future accidents. Performs inspections and audits of facilities, equipment and processes recommending corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations. Additionally, Safety Representative has a broad and current knowledge of all government and applicable industry safety regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Safety Representative works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. Safety Representative DescriptionThe successful candidate will assist in the ongoing implementation of regulatory compliance and incident prevention activities relating to the health and safety of D&D Power employees in the Northeast Region.
The Safety Representative will work closely with the Manager - Environment Health and Safety, Project Manager, General Foreman, and craft personnel to promote and ensure safe work practice and conditions.
Essential duties and responsibilities-Assistance with new hire safety orientation.-Coordination of on-site safety meetings.
Previous Utility experience desirable..-Have a solid understanding of 29 CFR OSHA 1926 Construction Industry Regulations.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.-Experience working in a union environment.-Current valid driver's license.-Able to travel regularly with overnights as needed.
