Safety Specialist implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Duties:
This is a Part-Time Independant Contractor opportunity to provide Safety training mainly to the Food Service and Hospitality industries.
Provide instruction and guidance to students in various subjects, including ServSafe Food Safety, Allergens, Responsible Alcohol Service, CPR/First Aid and other Safety training courses.* You will be trained in courses you are not familiar with prior to teaching them.
This position will travel mainly within the Hudson Valley of NY and CT to provide training for companies and groups as needed. Personal vehicle (paid mileage)
Flexibility to set up classroom/training room for maximum effeciency, comfort, and positive learning outcomes.
Experience:
-Public speaking and strong presentation skills required.
-Certified instructors preferred but training opportunities available.
- Prior experience working in Food Service, Hospitality &/or as an instructor/trainer/educator is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and through in person interactions and presentations, with the ability to effectively communicate with students and adult learners.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience with basic A/V set ups including connecting a projector or monitor to computer for presentations. Tech trouble shooting skills a plus.
