Safety Specialist jobs in Longview, TX

Responsible for promoting and maintaining a culture of safety within the organization. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement effective safety measures. The Safety Specialist will contribute to the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training programs, fostering a proactive approach to safety throughout the organization. 

The shift would be Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST.

A successful candidate must be able to:

• Collaborate with the HSE Manager to develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures across the organization.

• Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.

• Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and contributing to the development of effective corrective measures.

• Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, training sessions, and safety inspections in collaboration with the HSE Manager.

• Participate in emergency response planning and drills, contributing to the development and improvement of emergency protocols.

• Act as a resource for employees regarding safety concerns, addressing inquiries and providing support as needed.

• All other duties as assigned.

A successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Comprehensive understanding of OSHA safety regulations, standards, and best practices.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to investigate, analyze information and draw conclusions.

• Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills

• Dedication to continuous improvement of safety programs in compliance with changing safety standards

• Proficiency in Google programs and applications 

Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of industry experience in a safety role or the warehouse/distribution sector.

• OSHA 30 General Industry or willingness to earn within 6 months of start.

• Professional H&S certification is beneficial but not required(CSP, COSS, ASP, OHST, CHST, etc.)

Physical Requirements:
