Safety Specialist implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. As a member of the regional sourcing center of excellence (COE), the Electronics Sourcing Specialist performs a functional role in a regional/multi-site setting to execute supplier & category sourcing strategies for MSA. Specifically, this position will focus on facilitating the tactical operations of the sourcing team and processes, as well as support of the bidding process for raw materials, semi-finished or finished goods and services and will work to mitigate, or elevate where necessary, supplier quality, cost, and delivery issues. The incumbent is expected to participate in cost savings initiatives for externally procured material, execute against specific category strategies, and develop positive relationships with internal & external (supplier) stakeholders. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of sourcing, purchasing and supplier relationship management.
Major Responsibilities
Category Support: Demonstrate understanding of semiconductor industry and electronics procurement ecosystems. Demonstrate knowledge of relationship between manufacturer, manufacturer representative, supplier, product support, and MSA Safety as it relates to Electronics Procurement. Responsible for cost control, to be achieved by supporting Sr. Category Manager on cost savings, supplier quality and development, and P2P optimization initiatives. Assist with Sustaining cost savings projects as required. Partner with Transportation team on effective freight use and spend.
