Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Job Description:

    We are seeking a dedicated Safety and Maintenance Specialist to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe work environment while also assisting in machine maintenance tasks. Reporting to the Director of Safety, this hybrid role will primarily focus on safety initiatives while providing support in maintaining machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Safety Program Implementation: Collaborate with the Director of Safety and Maintenance to develop, implement, and evaluate safety programs, policies, and procedures. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
    • Training and Education: Conduct safety training sessions for employees on hazard recognition, emergency response, and safe work practices. Develop training materials and maintain training records. Additionally, provide basic machine maintenance training to relevant staff.
    • Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections of the workplace, equipment, and processes to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly. Perform routine inspections of machinery for safety compliance and functionality.
    • Incident Investigation: Assist in investigating safety incidents, near misses, and accidents. Analyze root causes and recommend preventive measures to minimize future occurrences. Additionally, troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to machine maintenance.
    • Safety Compliance: Monitor compliance with safety regulations and standards, including OSHA regulations. Keep abreast of industry trends and changes in safety requirements. Ensure machinery meets safety standards and perform necessary maintenance to address any safety concerns.
    • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including inspection findings, training records, incident reports, and corrective actions taken. Prepare reports for management as needed. Document maintenance tasks and keep maintenance logs up to date.


    Requirements:

    • Proven experience in a safety-related role and machine maintenance tasks, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
    • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHA regulations, and machine maintenance principles.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to conduct effective safety and maintenance training sessions.
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills for incident investigation and machine troubleshooting.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and safety management software.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
