Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Assist the Safety Manager in all matters relating to Health & Safety at the JFK Site. The SeniorSafety Specialist coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives that promote safe work practices and working environments, emphasizing system safety.

    Main Responisibilities:

    • Provide and oversee safety training in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policy. Support management in maintaining universal and hazardous waste areas in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. Work with Sites' Engineering & Maintenance resources to recommend solutions and support sites in hazard identification and risk assessment.
    • Perform safety audits/inspections on the work activities of employees, contractors, and vendors. Prepare safety inspection reports and present them to internal executives, the client, and their consultants. Assist safety manager during internal and external audits. Tracks audit findings and assist Safety Manager in weeklypre-CAP meetings with Site management. Oversee Joint Health and Safety Committee program to ensure the program complies with corporate directives.
    • Perform job analysis/ HIRA and develop safe system of work (SSOW) procedures for employees' and contractors' job tasks, equipment, tools, and special projects. Assist Safety Manager in maintaining safety data on the SharePoint site. Assist in maintaining SDS online database.Assist in Accident/Incident Investigation: Record & report important details of the accident and identify the root cause(s) and contributing factors.
    • Assist in implementing and tracking Site HSE Action Plan, including CAPs, in tracking site continuous improvement initiatives. Supports Safety Manager in initial HSE accident and incident notifications process.
    • Support management in maintaining ISO 45001system certifications.

    Qualifications & Functional Knowledge:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Health & Environmental Science, Management, or Engineering from an accredited college or university.

    Knowledge of the Business:

    • 1-3 years experience minimum; Other: Experience in the following programs involving; Electrical Safety and NFPA 70E, Systems Safety, Incident Investigation, Risk Assessment, and hazard Analysis Root Cause Analysis.
