Safety Specialist implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist for our client in Kenosha, WI.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Advise on federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
    • Conduct compliance audits, recommend corrective measures.
    • Manage regulatory submissions (air permits, spill prevention plans, etc.).
    • Develop and conduct EHS training programs for management and employees.
    • Assist in meeting corporate health, safety, sustainability, and environmental goals.
    • Provide daily guidance on EHS programs, ensuring a common approach.
    • Lead incident management and near-miss programs.
    • Ensure contractor compliance with safety requirements.
    • Facilitate Safety Committee activities, including safety inspections and meetings.
    • Direct plant personnel to achieve safety goals and objectives.

    General Responsibilities:

    • Stay informed on applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
    • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
    • Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Collaborate with diverse groups to achieve desired results.
    • Assemble, arrange, compute, and interpret data.
    • Generate required reports.

    Requirements:

    • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant safety experience, preferably in a lean manufacturing environment.
    • Proficient knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency.
    • Ability to work with diverse groups to achieve desired results.
    • Assemble, arrange, compute, and interpret data.
    • Generate reports as required.
    Pay: $60k - $90k/ year
