Safety Specialist implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.   • Two (2) Safety Specialists needed for an eight (8) month project in Moses Lake, WA starting Monday, October 23, 2023, for one of our good clients working on a nationally recognized project.

    The Project details are as follows:
    • Location: Moses Lake, WA (about 2.5 hours out of Seattle, Washington)
    • Pay Rate: $38.00-$40.00 per hour, depending on experience (DOE)
    • Per Diem: $170.00 per day (7 days per week)
    • Work Schedule: 6 days per week / 10 hours per day (occasionally working a 7th day)
    • Start Date: Monday, October 23, 2023
    • Duration: 8 – 9 Months
    • Project Type: New Construction (initial $100 million award) Battery Active Materials Factory (expected to be the site of the world’s largest factory for advanced silicon battery technology)

    Job Description Details are as follows:
    Job Summary:
    The Safety Specialist 1 will be responsible for coordinating the daily on-site safety activities while administering and implementing the Health and Safety programs that ensure compliance with statutory requirements to promote safe and healthy working conditions. Perform assignments of moderate complexity following the direction of the assigned Manager. Supports implementing established policies and procedures. Prepares reports, provides site inspections, supports established safety programs, and supports training and orientation.

    Duties & Essential Job Functions:
    1. Provide oversight of regulations and policies.
    2. Assist with development of site-specific plans and procedures covering a variety of safety issues.
    3. Assist with implementing site safety plans and procedures.
    4. Coordinate collection and analysis of safety metrics throughout the year.
    5. Assist with Incident Investigations.
    6. Collect data, establish facts and perform root cause analysis and draws valid conclusions. Report to Health and Safety management team and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
    7. Prepare required documentation and incident reporting and create safety alerts.
    8. Develop hazard mitigation practices.
    9. Monitor, maintain, and implement Safety Management System programs to ensure compliance in accordance with all company, local, state, and federal regulations.
    10. Participate in Site Safety auditing.
    11. Observe and ensure implementation of Safe Work Practices on site including compliance with site safety requirements.
    12. Participate in daily safety meetings with assigned project team.
    13. Evaluate hazards in work tasks, work environments, and JSA’s with team.
    14. Communicate results of safety meeting including action plans, personnel tasks, and targeted deadlines.
    15. Conduct or coordinate the scheduling of any safety training required.
    16. Assist with special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    Required:
    1. A minimum of  8 years’ experience in Construction Safety and 3 years’ as a Safety Technician.
    2. Familiarity with OSHA regulations, ANSI, and other applicable EHS guidelines and industry standards.
    3. CSST or equivalent certification, First-Aid/CPR, OSHA 10, 30, TWIC, ARSC Basic Safety.

    Preferred:
    1. HAZWOPER 24, 40 / HAZMAT.
    2. OSHA 500, 510 and / or 501, 511.
    3. Working towards ASP or equivalent certification.
