Mine Safety Technician
Responsibilities
Excel Mining, LLC is seeking qualified candidates to become a part of our underground mining safety team. Responsibilities include performing job safety evaluations, enforcing and maintaining compliance with company safety policies as well as state and federal mining regulations, maintaining and enforcing approved mine plans, training miners on fundamental and advanced safety techniques and first aid, performing accident investigations, escorting Mine Safety and Health Administration representatives as they perform routine mine inspections, and establishing and cultivating a culture of safety for our employees at the mine. This position may also require the periodic distribution and management of wearable dust collection devices (PDMs).
Required Certifications:
*Kentucky Underground Miner's Certification
*Kentucky Underground Foreman's Certification.
*Kentucky Mine Safety Instructor's Card.
*PDM Dust Collector Certification
*MET Instructor Certification
Preferred but Optional Certifications:
*Kentucky Electrical Certification
*Experienced Surface Miner and Instructor Certification
Applicant must have at least five total years of underground coal mining experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for this role as routine interaction with employees in both group and 1 on 1 settings are necessary. The applicant should be comfortable in an underground setting and knowledgeable with the rules and regulations governing underground coal mines in the State of Kentucky.
This will be an hourly position answering directly to the Mine Safety Coordinator.
