Position Summary
The Director of MTSS Intervention Support acts as the district leader for student intervention. The employee provides direct intensive support to school academic interventionist and teachers in the successful implementation of academic interventions for students at risk of not meeting grade level or end of course standards. The Director of MTSS Intervention Support assists teachers with developing strategies and techniques for assessing and fulfilling instructional deficiencies of their students. The director will develop a systematic school-wide Multi-Tiered system framework and assist classroom teachers with the implementation of the intervention program.
Intervention/Direct Services
- Assist schools in understanding screening, diagnostic and progress monitoring data for the purpose of identifying struggling learners, intervention design, and students’ response to interventions, respectively.
- Organize, coordinate, and co-facilitate the work Identify best practices regarding teaching, instruction and assessment in MTSS.
- Work closely with Chief Academic Officer and school leaders with evaluating the effectiveness of interventions in the schools and develop strategies for improvement.
- Assists schools in developing strategic plans for intervention and growth for all students.
- Submit monthly intervention data reports to CAO and school leaders.
- Monitor and report student achievement data associated with the multi-tier interventions to CAO and school leaders.
- Consult with CAO, ESS, and ELL student services to foster progress of struggling students.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with K – 12 classroom teachers to implement the Multi-Tiered system framework of support.
- Provide feedback to teachers during individual and small group intervention time to insure fidelity to the school-wide Multi-Tiered system framework.
- Work closely with teachers while assisting in the development of Student Action Plans per District and School Literacy Plans as per LDOE guidelines.
- Model lessons and strategies in the classroom as it relates to small group instruction.
Staff Development
- Customize and facilitate MTSS professional development to teachers and academic interventionists that is based on the school’s needs.
- Develop and provide materials for/with colleagues.
- Provide instructional leadership in assigned area(s) to schools for accelerating academic achievement of all students, especially those groups who have not reached proficiency of Louisiana Student Standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s strongly preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience
- Experience in presenting educational training programs with a demonstrated knowledge and practice of English Language Arts
- Valid Louisiana teacher certificate

Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgment and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank task in order of importance; copy compare compile, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress.
