Position Overview:
The Sales Trainer is responsible for designing, implementing, delivering, and managing effective sales training programs to enhance the knowledge, skills, and performance of the team. This role requires a strong understanding of adult learning principles and sales methodologies. The Sales Trainer collaborates closely with leaders, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to develop and deliver comprehensive training initiatives that align with the organization's sales goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Training Program Development:
Responsible for content creation, curriculum design, and delivery methods.
Identify training needs and conduct thorough assessments to determine knowledge and skill gaps within the sales team.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure training programs are aligned with business objectives, sales strategies, and product/service updates.
Incorporate various learning methodologies, such as e-learning, classroom training, skill practices, and on-the-job training, to create engaging and effective training experiences, presentations, and sales playbooks.
Training Delivery and Facilitation:
Conduct engaging and interactive sales training sessions for new hires and existing team members.
Deliver product training, sales techniques, objection handling, and other relevant sales-related topics.
Utilize effective facilitation techniques to promote participant engagement, knowledge retention, and skill development.
Regularly assess and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and sales performance metrics.
Provide coaching and feedback to sales representatives to reinforce learning and improve performance.
Sales Enablement Materials:
Develop and maintain sales training materials, including presentations, job aids, training manuals, and other resources.
Collaborate with teams to ensure sales training materials are up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with the latest product/service features and value propositions.
Regularly review and update training materials to reflect changes in sales strategies, market conditions, and customer needs.
Sales Coaching and Support:
Provide ongoing coaching and support to representatives, managers, and other team members to reinforce training concepts and optimize performance.
Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions, sales call observations, and skill practice exercises to enhance sales skills and techniques.
Collaborate with leaders to identify coaching opportunities and provide customized training plans to address specific skill gaps.
Training Evaluation and Reporting:
Establish metrics and evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness and impact of sales training programs.
Analyze training data, sales performance metrics, and participant feedback to identify areas of improvement and make necessary adjustments to training programs.
Prepare regular reports on training effectiveness, ROI, and recommendations for program enhancements.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
Partner with leaders, HR personnel, and subject matter experts to align training initiatives with the overall sales strategy and business objectives.
Collaborate with internal departments, such as product management and marketing, to ensure the training materials reflect the latest product updates and sales strategies.
Work closely with managers to identify individual training needs and develop personalized training plans for sales representatives.
Stay informed about industry trends, sales methodologies, and best practices in sales training to ensure the training programs remain current and effective.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, sales, training, or a related field preferred. Master's degree is a plus.
Proven experience in sales training and development.
Strong knowledge of sales methodologies, sales processes, and selling techniques.
Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
Proficient in instructional design principles and learning management systems.
Ability to design and deliver engaging and interactive training programs.
Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
Analytical skills to evaluate training effectiveness and make data-driven recommendations.
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with stakeholders.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
ADA Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
WORKING CONDITIONS Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
