Job Requirements:
What is it like to work as part of Sit Means Sit?
Every day you will have a hand in improving the life a dog shares with its human. You will be one of the first interactions a client has with our team. You will get to listen to lots of stories and know just how much our clients need help. We get to help reactive dogs, scared dogs, overly excited dogs. We help owners understand how to be leaders to their dogs. We want to be a conduit through which people get to live they life they want with their dog. For some people it's better walks, or not jumping. For others, it's potty training or chewing. We’re always improving daily life, and sometimes it's even life changing - like keeping a dog in a home rather than it being surrendered or “just put away in a crate” to avoid difficult situations. Your conversation launches someone on the journey to a safer, more fun, more fulfilling life with their dog. The more you commit to this, the more you become part of the team the more you will get from this as well.
Who is successful as a sales consultant?
You have to like talking to people and have to be a good listener. They will tell you everything they want - you just have to listen. You have to have a basic understanding of our system and why it is so great. You will need to communicate that and explain why it will solve what they need help with. You don’t have to have a dog to be successful in this position - but you will be asked questions - and will have to be able to navigate and steer the conversation even if you don’t know the answer to “training and behavior” questions. We don’t like a pushy approach to sales to meet quotas, we prefer to help someone see the potential improvement in their life. Deciding on training is not like buying a car or a new roof, per se. Sometimes is drastically necessary, sometimes emotionally necessary - but we have to care and help a living thing - knowing how important the bond between a dog and its owner is always underlies each conversation.
