Scheduler develops, prepares, and maintains production schedules to guide the production activities and resources that achieve maximum efficiency and meet output and timeline objectives. Gathers data from internal teams to incorporate materials, inventories, resource availability, and delivery commitments into schedules. Being a Scheduler monitors daily production results and revises scheduling responsive to changes in the flow of materials, designs, equipment, or other resources. Utilizes ERP systems, planning and scheduling software, or other database tools to develop and maintain master schedules and generate reporting. Additionally, Scheduler typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Scheduler work is closely managed. Summary: The Scheduler coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to daily and weekly production schedules. Duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; inventory levels and solving production problems. Must monitor the company's resources and workforce to ensure that everything runs smoothly in adherence to all schedules, making changes only when necessary. Furthermore, as a scheduler, it is essential to encourage the workforce to reach goals and deadlines.
Essential Functions of Scheduler: • Ensure daily production requirements are achievable to meet customer expectation. • Ability to prepare daily and weekly schedules. • Data analysis and decision making to support schedules demands. • Creates schedules using SAP and Microsoft Project and prioritizes job-orders for production optimization and flow. • Maintains the production schedule and other reports as required. • Follow-up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectation. • Assist other departments when required. • Interface with all departments and resolve problems and issues related to Project schedules, capacity and demand. • Interact with shop floor management on a daily basis to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies, bills of materials, work routing or additional information as requested from Management. • Maintain and monitor key performance indictors set by Production. • Maintain and control reporting that involves schedule attainment, project management etc. • Able to communicate with all departments on critical milestones and deadlines. • Be the Production Planning SAP Key User. • Other duties as assigned.
Competencies/Education and Experience for Scheduler Must possess the following skill sets: Experience as a scheduler and manufacturing experience; Understanding of ERP system (SAP preferred) and Microsoft products; Strong computer skills; Strong organizational and communication skills; Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines; Use logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems; Strong Time Management Skills; Work effectively and relate well with others and maintain constructive working relationships; Must have a strong understanding of the production process; Ability to post schedules, solve schedules/production problems; seek to improve processes, and help fulfill company expectations. Bachelor’s degree in business management, process control management or equivalent experience.
