POSITION TITLE: School Bus Driver
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time
NORMAL WORKING HOURS: 6:45 am-9am; 2pm-4:15 pm; (4.5 hr/day for 207 days based on need)
EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-exempt from overtime

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Transportation Services Supervisor
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 300 Days
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Shall operate school bus or other vehicles for the purpose of transporting passengers to/from programming and recreational activities as needed.
NATURE OF WORK:
- Flexibility in scheduling: shall be available for extra duty for field trips (day, evening and weekend), shift in schedule when a two hour delay occurs, trips to the maintenance garage and information pickup and drop off to parents relevant to route schedules.
- Shall operate vehicles in accordance with rules and regulations set forth by the State, Department of Transportation, Department of Education, Department of DD, and other agencies regulating transportation.
- Shall perform daily pre-trip inspection of vehicles operated.
- Shall report any deficiencies to immediate supervisor for maintenance and/or repair.
- Shall schedule repairs in conjunction with supervisor.
- Shall report any safety issues to the supervisor.
- Shall assist in the loading and unloading of passengers.
- Shall notify parents of delays or changes in routing schedules.
- Shall provide emergency first aid/CPR and evacuation when needed.
- Shall maintain discipline on the bus at all times following discipline procedures set forth.
- Shall prepare, maintain, and submit reports for mileage, fuel usage, repairs, maintenance, discipline, route changes, etc. per guidelines set forth in drivers handbook.
- Shall maintain the cleanliness of the vehicles, both inside and outside.
- Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor or manager.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED: School Bus with and without air brakes, wheelchair lift, power washer, vacuum, and others as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Working conditions may exist that are not such as normally exist in the occupation of the public employee. These conditions may include exposure to bloodbourne pathogens, communicable disease, potentially infectious materials and/or aggressive behavior. As necessary, employee shall comply with safety rules established for the purpose of fulfilling compliance with Ohio Employment Risk Reduction Standards, Rules or Orders, through the utilization of protective equipment and decontamination techniques
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS: Must be physically capable of lifting, carrying, and moving individuals, including children, adolescents, and adults in a safe manner according to in-service training. Must have reliable transportation and maintain good attendance. Must be able to evacuate a school bus safely and quickly, which may include carrying a student from the bus. Safe driving skills needed, with ability to follow route directions and traffic signs/signals.

C. CREDENTIALS (Valid certification/licensure is required to work at WyCBDD and is the sole responsibility of the employee)

3. Licensure: CDL with S & P endorsements
D. Ancillary Training: Orientation Program, Crisis Intervention/Prevention, Annual WyCBDD In service, Annual School Bus Driver In service, and all other training, seminars and meetings as required.
E. Other: Satisfactory pre-employment (and as further required) completion/results: BCII & FBI Checks, Abuser Registry Check, Nurse Aid Registry Check, Sex Offender and Child-victim Offender Database, US General Services Administration System Check, Database of Incarcerated and Supervised Offenders Check, Office of the Inspector General of the US Department of Health & Human Services List of Excluded person and entities, Drug Screen, Physical, TB Test, Driver Abstract . Satisfactory report from the state bureau of criminal identification and investigation (BCII) every five years and from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) every six years.
Must be qualified to perform all duties assigned to this position.
