Silicon Valley International School seeks a dependable School Bus Driver to join our team. The selected candidate will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, between different campuses and extracurricular events (as required), following a specific route and ensuring the safety of all passengers.
As a School Bus Driver, you will conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in good condition, adhere to safety and traffic regulations during the journey, and maintain order and discipline among students on board. Effective communication with students, parents, and school staff is also expected, including providing excellent customer service and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
In summary, a School Bus Driver plays a critical role in providing safe and reliable transportation for students, ultimately contributing to their overall school experience.
Primary Responsibilities
Operate a school shuttle bus/van daily over designated routes in accordance with time schedules.
Make safety a priority at all times, perform Pre/Post trip inspections required and assist in maintaining the bus in safe operating condition.
Check weather conditions and road reports prior to departure
Pick up and discharge school children and/or school employees safely according to transportation rules
Transport students and chaperones on field trips to various locations, following the scheduled route, using best judgment in making necessary detours to achieve departure and arrival times as scheduled.
Maintain clean exterior and interior of the bus(es). It is important to keep a record of mileage, fuel usage, and oil changes, as well as report any driving hazards or incidents. Adhere to the provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code applicable to the operation of vehicles transporting school children.
Understand and apply first aid practices as necessary
Notify the Transporation Director and/or school contact(s) of emergency situations, delays, equipment failures or maintenance issues to be remedied
Other duties as assigned.

Learn a designated bus route, bus stops, and district traffic hazards
Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
Qualifications
Education, Experience & Training:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
Experience in map reading and route planning
One year of experience as a school bus driver is required
Licenses and Certificates
Valid California Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B, with Passenger Endorsement.
Current California Special Driver Certificate, valid for driving school buses.
Current DMV approved Medical Certificate (renew every 2 years).
Current approved First Aid card, if applicable (i.e. restriction 6 on Special Driver Certificate) and CPR.
Background check & TB Screening: Required
Must maintain a clear driving record.

Must be able to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions
On occasion, must lift up to 35 lbs
Compensation
Competitive salary and benefits based on education and experience, the hourly range for this position is $29.40 - $35.68. Full-Time and Part-Time Positions Available - SPLIT Shift
