Job Goal(s):
The primary job goal of the School Nurse is to work to maintain the good health, safety and well-being of students served by the Van Buren ISD. To this end, the person provides direct service to students and coordinates communication between the school, families, physicians and community agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Must qualify for School Nurse Certification

Certification:
Valid Michigan Registered Nurse License required

Work Experience:
Previous experience in the area of school nursing and with handicapped children is preferred

Skills:

• Ability to communicate well with school personnel, parents, students and physicians

• Working familiarity with various handicapping conditions

Essential Job Functions:

• Participate in educational planning.

• Provide effective health services to students.

• Demonstrate effective leadership in establishing and implementing school health programs.

• Effectively communicate, consult, and team with parents, staff, agencies, and others.

• Accept personal responsibility for professional development.

• Adhere to Van Buren ISD policies and procedures.

• Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed upon or established timelines.

• Perform additional tasks, responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Learning Center Principal.

• Regular and reliable, in person attendance.

• Lead by example using VBISD guiding principles: Respect, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence.

Terms of Employment: As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
