    The School Nurse serves as the leading health professional for the school community and is
    responsible for managing and coordinating health services. The nurse serves as a liaison
    between the school and home regarding student health issues and provides education/training
    on health issues to students, staff, and families as needed.

    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Provides on-campus and immediate general medical treatment for the students, faculty,
    and staff of Trinity Episcopal Church and School, including administering prescription
    and over-the-counter medications to students
    • Teaches health-related classes to students and provides CPR/First Aid training to faculty
    and staff
    • Collects, documents, and maintains all student health forms and records
    • Coordinates health requirements for school trips and provides required equipment
    • Manages supplies for the nurse's office and oversees the nursing budget throughout the
    school year
    • Works closely with the School Counselor, Division Heads, and others to ensure students’
    mental health and social/emotional needs are met
    • Participates as a member of the school’s Emergency Management Team
    • Follows state and local health practice statutes, school policies, and administrative
    guidelines
    • Develops and implements school health policies and procedures with school
    administrators, Board of Health, and state and local health authorities
    • Develops individual health care plans and modifications for students with special health

    care needs

    This is a full-time, 11 month position with the hours of 7:40 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Monday through
    Friday.

    Qualifications:

    • Registered Professional Nurse with current license
    • Baccalaureate degree in nursing or related field
    • Experience in school nursing preferred
    • Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience in a high-volume setting
    • Current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid
    • Experience in pediatric or public health nursing preferred
    • A high degree of organization and flexibility
    • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment
    • Considerable knowledge of child growth and development
    • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the
    delivery of school health services
    • Some knowledge of the school organization and the community served
    • Ability to identify abnormal growth and development and symptoms of disease
    • Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agency, and
    other community resources
    • Ability to develop and maintain accurate health records on students
    • Ability to develop positive working relationships
    • Ability to exercise sensitivity, confidentiality, and sound judgment when working with

    students and families
