Position: Secondary Principal - (Interim or Long Term)
Classification: Full-Time Salaried Exempt
Reports to: Head of School
I. General Description:
The Head of School contracts the Secondary Principal. The Head of School will evaluate the performance of the Secondary Principal and annually issues the Letter of Intent. This is a position that has duties twelve months a year.
II. Job Goal:
To lead the academic program of Lenawee Christian School to excellence according to the vision and mission of the school.
II. Qualifications:
Positive role model of Christian Character in accordance with lifestyle agreement contract.
Advanced communication and public relations skills.
Minimum of three (3) years teaching or administrative experience.
Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of believers.
Master’s degree in education administration or Curriculum Development preferred.
Hold a State of Michigan Teacher certification and State of Michigan Administration certification preferred.
Build positive and effective relationships that gain trust and respect with all stakeholders.
Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, coupled with ability to make sound judgements and decisions in a timely manner.
III. Job Duties include:
Recruit, hire and retain faculty who align with mission and vision.
Cultivate a Christ-centered school culture, ensuring that biblical principles are integrated through the curriculum and school activities.
Provide strong, consistent leadership for faculty and other staff personnel.
Evaluate faculty regularly to provide opportunities for professional efficiency and consistency.
Develop professional development plans to promote growth and learning for faculty and staff.
Evaluate biblical integration in classroom and programs.
Create opportunities for faculty to worship God and serve others.
Build positive and strong relationships with all constituents.
Monitor student progress and ensure policies for student support are aligned and followed.
Ensure the accurate development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Works with Director of Admissions regarding enrollment.
Provide oversight to ensure the secondary school meets and/or exceeds the standards set by ACSI and the State of Michigan.
Manage the secondary school budget effectively.
Continually evaluate curriculum by utilizing vertical teams. Participate in the formation of a strategic plan and execute the secondary school action items.
Lead data teams to effectively measure student growth and ensure best instructional practices are used.
Guide teachers and students in use of technology to maximize learning.
Interview, admit and retain students who are a good fit according to admissions policies.
Promote a safe and secure learning environment for all students.
Provide appropriate discipline that encourages students to make wise decisions.
Adhere and implement policies and practices set forth by the Student Handbook.
Lead the annual review of the handbook.
Lead in developing the best and most effective curriculum possible.
Ensure that biblical integration takes place throughout the curriculum.
Maintain personal professional qualifications including college degrees and required certifications.
