POSITION: Principal (2024-2025 School Year)

LOCATIONS: One opening at Sussex Central High School and one opening at North Georgetown Elementary School
START DATE: 2024-2025 School Year
Certification: Must hold or be eligible for Delaware Certification in School Administration, including a passing score on the School Leaders Licensure Assessment. Must hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or a related field,

• Three years of successful Assistant Principal experience, required
• Five years of successful teaching experience, required
• Previous successful principal experience, preferred
• Prior administrative experience required including supervision of staff and budget management
• Clean Criminal Background Check and Child Protection Registry and TB Clearance required prior to employment

Job Goal:
Under the general direction of the Superintendent, the Principal will be responsible for the improvement of the instructional program, staff and community relations, management of school funds, and the maintenance of a safe and effective school facility. The Principal is expected to follow the policies, procedures and administrative directives of the Indian River School District at all times.

Reports To:

• Superintendent

Primary Duties:

• Motivate staff and students to achieve district and school goals
• Serve as the Instructional Leader for the school
• Coordinate all aspects of school programs
• Provide leadership to staff and students in the maintenance of a safe, clean and orderly school facility
• Conduct performance evaluations of staff in a timely manner utilizing approved state and district forms
• Enforce district-wide policies and procedures
• Manage the school budget
• Encourage the participation and support of the community by integrating the school’s mission within the community and with local organizations.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned

Terms of Employment:

• Twelve-month year. Salary and working conditions established by the Board of Education. Administrator salary schedule based on experience and degree. Salary Schedule can be found on the district website: https://www.irsd.net/departments/human-resources/salary-scales

Evaluation:

• Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent
