The Racine Unified School District (RUSD) has set ambitious goals to ensure continuous academic growth and high levels of student achievement and student engagement so that every child, in every school and every neighborhood, has access to a world-class learning experience, resulting in graduation from high school career and college ready. To that end, the principal is the leader of the school. Leadership provides purpose and direction for the school and school community. This leadership includes shaping school culture and values, developing a shared vision, and structuring change efforts. The principal guides the leadership team in setting priorities for all stakeholders within the school community, the district framework, and the larger community. The principal coordinates all of these efforts toward developing successful students who can be productive in the 21st century. Experience: Minimum five years of significant urban education experience working in a K-12 Public School setting with a strong background and experience in secondary education, including teaching and administration. Minimum three years of significant successful experience working in a secondary academy and pathway model. AoR Horlick Academies Include the Freshman Academy, the Academy of Business and Culinary Arts (Accounting, Business, Marketing, and Culinary pathways), the Academy of Education and Technical Services (Education, Construction, IT, Manufacturing, and Engineering pathways), and the Academy of Health Sciences and Aviation (Health Services, Biomedical Sciences, and Aviation pathways). Administrative experience in a Ford Next Generation Learning (NGL) community is preferred. Strong experience working with data, including collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, and evaluating outcomes. Required Certifications/Licenses: Must hold or be eligible to hold Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Principal License #1051. Teachscape Certified or must obtain certification within 60 days of the hire date. Fiscal Responsibilities: Required to develop and adhere to the budgeted amounts for the school. Instructional Leadership: a. Provides instructional leadership for the school staff. b. Provides leadership for the Professional Learning of the staff in curriculum, instruction, assessments, and student management techniques. c. Implements the curriculum approved by the Board. d. In collaboration with building staff, annually formulates, implements, and evaluates an effective school improvement plan. e. Provides leadership as LEA Representative to ensure appropriate implementation of student IEP’s. f. Ensures that liaison is established between building staff and other groups working to improve instruction. g. Evaluates, with the staff, the effectiveness of the instructional program. h. Knowledge of Wisconsin Educator Effectiveness, coaching models, and teacher development. i. Demonstrated success leading a school in closing achievement gaps for all sub-groups. j. Assist in developing and sustaining partnerships with the business and manufacturing community, convening organizations, local government agencies, and universities and colleges as a means to establishing career pathways that ensure all students will graduate career and college ready. k. Supports the Academies of Racine's commitment to continuous improvement in school performance through academy teams, advisory councils, departmental programs, policies, and activities. l. Remains knowledgeable about appropriate leadership strategies. Management: a. Informs all staff members of the procedures to be followed in the event of an accident to any student or employee. Established a procedure for safety, weather-related accidents, internal and external incidents that includes filing a detailed report of all accidents on standard forms. b. Helps in securing and organizing the necessary resources for instruction and its improvement. c. Designs and administers systems to effectively and efficiently utilize both material and human resources for instruction and improvement. d. Requisitions for both emergency and minor repairs, supplies, and equipment on standard forms. e. Prepares and certifies the payroll report. g. Prepare, monitor, and make appropriate budget proposals and expenditures in support of student achievement. f. Ensures that school financial records are properly maintained and prepared for annual audit. Staffing & Evaluation: a. Assists in the selection, evaluation, and supervision of assigned personnel, develops, maintains, and implements necessary staff development education and evaluation procedures. b. Prepares a written evaluation of all professional personnel and other staff members at intervals and in a manner agreed upon by the contact and as directed by the Superintendent.
