    The Position:

    The Head of School / CEO reports to the Board of Directors, oversees the lower and upper schools and serves as the educational leader of the upper school (grades 7-12). The Head of School / CEO role involves cultivating a shared vision among the board, donors, faculty, staff and the broader community for the endeavor of providing a high-quality education with a biblical worldview and individualized student growth among a diverse population. The Head of School / CEO also oversees a social enterprise that is affiliated with the school which operates two small businesses.

    Qualifications:

    • Passionate commitment and demonstrated experience to the mission and values of the school; fully able to sign and affirm the Statement of Faith.
    • Master’s degree required in the field of education.
    • Demonstrated experience in fundraising and donor cultivation.
    • Demonstrates innovation and outside-the-box thinking to tackle complex problems.
    • Experience in cross-cultural communication and building teams among diverse constituencies.
    • Demonstrates servant leadership management style. Leads with transparency and is a strong team builder.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; strong and compelling written and verbal communication skills. (Fluency in Spanish is preferred).
    • Ability to joyfully interface with and respectfully serve a diverse audience, including board members, staff, students, families, donors, contractors, and vendors.
    • At least five years of experience as a full-time classroom instructor required (with previous high school leadership experience preferred).
    • Experience with mentoring and guiding students and parents. Gentle and gracious, while also energizing and inspiring others; pastoral gifts are desired.
    • Strong integrity with confidential information, organizational skills, strong independent project management, and ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism and flexibility.
    • Available and flexible to work evenings and weekends when necessary.

    • Communicate anticipated or incurred problems (such as delays, resource conflicts, insufficient communication, etc.) to team members proactively, so that small problems stay small and don’t become big problems.

    CEO Responsibilities:

    Cultivates a shared vision among the board, donors, faculty, staff and the broader community for the endeavor of providing a high-quality education with a biblical worldview and individualized student growth among a diverse population.

    • Serves as employee to the Board of Trustees, attends bi-monthly board meetings, updates board on progress with strategic plan, and recruits new board members.
    • Manages the performance and professional development of the Dean of Students, Academic Principal, Director of Development, Finance Manager, Athletic Director and office staff. Meets monthly with the Leadership Team and weekly with office staff.
    • Together with Board Finance Committee, prepare annual budget for the school. Track cashflow and budget actuals monthly with Finance Manager.
    • Writes monthly blog/family newsletter as CEO/Head of School.
    • Provides a comprehensive and accredited grade K-12 education program for 180 days of academic instruction per school year.
    • Oversee Athletic Director and provide support to policy communications.
    • Oversee Admissions and make policy decisions.
    • Oversee Project Coordinator with development of school calendar. Develop theme for the school year. Also ensure the student handbook is up to date.
    • Oversee Finance/HR Manager and teacher contracts and make decisions regarding employee handbook.
    • Collaborates with Chapel Lead (Lower School Principal and HS Chapel Lead) for overall chapel theme for the year. Implements devotional plan for the year.
    • Oversees launch of SEVIS international student program with HS Leadership Team.
    • Plans annual start of school convocation and end-of-year graduation.
    • Works with the Dean of Students on developing cultural competencies for staff at 2-3 in-services per school year.
    • Attends parent meetings with the Dean of Students or Lower School Principal when appropriate and needed.
    • Together with the Academic Coach, develop a systemized process for academic coaching that includes life skills and integrates behavioral coaching needs for Tier 2 and Tier 3 students. Available to work with students in grades 7-12 when necessary.
    • Work with the Lower School Principal and the Dean of Students to formulate expected outcomes, goals, and objectives for spiritual formation of students from K-12.

    Development Responsibilities:

    • Serves as Board Chair of the social enterprise, attends bi-monthly board meetings, updates board on progress, and recruits new board members. Oversees the small business operations.
    • Together with social enterprise board finance committee, prepare the annual budget for social enterprise.
    • Provide ongoing supervision and training to the Development Manager and Grant Writer to create an annual fundraising plan to meet the goals for various constituencies, i.e. major donors, tax credit program, partners, participants, events, alumni participation, foundations, etc. Serve as the school representative at donor meetings in partnership with the Development Manager.
    • Together with the Finance Manager, completes the school accreditation process with the goal of having school accredited by the end of the 2024-2025 school year so we don’t lose International Student Program status with SEVIS.
    • Attend events within the community; work with the media; be the “face of the school.”
    • Finalize the International Student program with Finance Manager and Admissions Manager and implement the program.
    • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to explore launching a bilingual Pre-K in FY 2026, as well as a summer school program for grades 3-12.

    Upper School Principal Responsibilities:

    Serves as the division and educational leader of the upper school (grades 7-12). For many principal duties, the implementation is delegated, but the principal is still involved with decision-making.

    • Hire, develop and support full and part-time faculty in their pursuit of high-quality instruction with a biblical worldview and individualized student growth. Develop professional development initiatives for faculty to stay current with discipline methods, motivation tools, Christian response to world issues, etc.
    • Together with Academic Principal, prepare and distribute material for curriculum review; remain connected to current educational research and collaborate with faculty for continual improvement of curriculum and overall program, with particular focus on students’ whose first language is Spanish and whose families have immigrated to the U.S.
    • Work together with Lower School Principal to improve academics and curriculum that incorporates Biblical worldview focus with the city as the classroom and and provides students with meaningful outreach opportunities.
    • Lead Monday after-school meetings with HS Faculty & Staff.
    • Work with the Dean of Students to set up a vigorous guidance program for high school including academic planning for each Upper School student.
    • Build the Upper School class schedule, course selection sheet and oversee all scheduling.
    • Modify and create Upper School policies to ensure grace-based, safe daily operations, instruction, and other activities of the school, delegate as appropriate.
    • Stay apprised of the provisional re-enrollment process in the Spring (managed by Academic Principal and the Dean of Students); attend parent meetings as necessary and appropriate.
    • Conduct teacher observations for grades 7 - 12 bi-weekly for the first three months and monthly after that. Use the school observation form and provide feedback to teachers through bi-weekly 15-minute check-ins with each Upper School teacher, ensuring they are attending to the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and physical growth of every child. Pray with teachers and solve problems with them.
    • Together with the Dean of Students, plan annual Jr and Sr high start-of-school retreats.
    • Plan Upper School Graduation.
    • Coordinate the Upper School End-of-Year trip.
    • Formalize Upper School ELL program with input from the Dean of Students (TESOL cert); use best practices.
    • Oversee High School Leadership Team staff in carrying out their duties (Serve as a substitute when one cannot be found).
    • Oversee finalization of safety policies and procedures, such as Hazard Safety Plan, Intruder training, and drill procedures. Communicate and organize plan elements school-wide.
    • Collaborate with the Dean of Students, HS Spanish Teacher, and Project Coordinator on community building with parents with a particular emphasis on launching the parent auxiliary group and increasing engagement of Latino parents in the Juntos Aprendemos program.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Complete miscellaneous tasks as needed.
    • Develop personal skills and professional capabilities on the job and with additional training.
