Construction Superintendent

    As a commercial construction superintendent you are responsible for overseeing and coordinating all on-site aspects of construction project schedule including, but not limited to: equipment, materials, personnel, safety issues, subcontractors, and communications with management and any relevant external parties.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
    Other duties may be assigned.

    • Attends pre construction meetings project planning sessions before the start of the project. Provides input for developing, implementing and maintaining construction schedule.
    • Studies contract drawings and specifications in order to develop a plan for construction based on starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
    • Establish and maintain suitable working relationships with municipal code officials (police, fire and building inspector) to ensure optimal project efficiency.
    • Set up job site office and maintain as clean office and meeting space. See that permits, federal and state labor law posters, and required notification materials are posted in a conspicuous space. Set up sanitation stations and water coolers in strategic areas. Set up tool and storage trailers.
    • Order material, tools and equipment in a timely manner so that they are on site and available when needed. Request Hutter personnel with enough advance notice to conform with company schedule.
    • Review material takeoffs and estimation quantities and report any discrepancies to the project manager.
    • Review and confirm all building layout points, benchmark and control and report any discrepancies to project manager.
    • Conduct weekly coordination meetings that include supervisors or foreman from all trades on site. Meetings to include agenda and a three week schedule. Attend weekly meetings with the project managers and owner’s representatives or project team.
    • Conduct daily job hazard analysis with all employees and participate in employee training by holding weekly safety meeting. Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations with Hutter Construction employees and subcontractors. Hold pre-construction meetings with sub contractors and ensure they give you a copy of their weekly safety meetings.
    • Coordinate subcontractor activities through effective scheduling, and communication. Inspect work in progress to ensure that all materials and installations conform to specifications and the work performed maintains the construction schedule. Maintain the highest standards of quality and correct all workmanship that does not meet standards.
    • Miscellaneous administrative duties including filing daily field reports, weekly time records, cost coding all material delivery slips and other job specific reporting or documentation.
    • Interpret drawings, specifications and provide direction to sub contractors and field personnel.
    • Communicate issues and questions to the project manager and design professionals. Provide opinion and advice on solving design conflicts or omissions.

Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

    Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
