General Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with administration, counseling, and special education staff to effectively implement systems of support and social-emotional learning.
• Maintain regular communication and advise Head of School in all areas of academic advising and student support.
• Ensure counseling programs meet school goals.
• Work with students in individual, group, and classroom settings.
• Consult with faculty, administration, and parents to monitor student progress and provide recommendations and modifications to ensure effective school supports.
• Maintain counseling logs, treatment notes, and other appropriate documentation regarding student performance and well-being.
• Provide academic advising to 7th and 8th grade students.
• Attend Staff meetings, Department meetings, and Grade Level meetings for up to an average of 45 minutes each week (measured on an annual basis).

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• California Pupil Personnel Services Credential
• Combination of education and experience and training which would indicate possession of the required knowledge, skills and competencies listed herein

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 2-3 years of school counseling experience, working with middle and/or high school students
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience with academic advising, mental health counseling, and meeting the social-emotional needs of middle and/or high school students
• Experience in presenting and preparing proposals and professional presentations to a variety of audiences (students, parents, Board, and community)
• Experience or interest in working in charter schools, education, or non-profits
• Organizational and interpersonal skills
• Excellent collaboration, verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of academic advising, graduation progress monitoring, and course selection process
• Ability to create and provide effective social-emotional learning opportunities, and effective counseling services that meet the developmental needs of adolescents
• Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and adapt quickly to changes
• Commitment to thoughtful, reflective, and diplomatic communication with all stakeholders
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $68,141.00 - $123,351.00 per year
