POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Seamstress, under the supervision of the Custom Shop Production Floor Supervisor, operates a sewing machine to join, gather, hem, reinforce, or decorate articles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must follow all department Standard Operating Procedures

• Must learn or have existing experience with all Alterations techniques and application
• Must be familiar with all 5.11 products and their construction to better understand embellishment opportunities and limitations
• Reads work order to determine what type of alteration has to be done
• Must understand how the order needs to be altered prior to altering
• Verify order for garment style, sizes, and quantities prior to beginning production
• Responsible for reducing shoulders, shortening/lengthening sleeves, tapering side of garments, taking in/out trouser waist, shortening/lengthening trouser inseam, adding striping, sewing patches, seam sealing, adding or removing epaulets, adding or removing badge and/or mic tabs, adding hook and loop and other alteration duties as required
• Must pay extreme attention to detail when processing orders
• Perform all alterations to 5.11 product standards and certifications
• Responsible for completing work orders outlined in the daily production schedule provided by Alteration Lead
• Responsible for quality of each embellishment
• Responsible for proper operation of equipment
• Responsible for alerting Alteration Lead of machine malfunction
• Maintains neat and efficient working areas
• Assists in solutions to improve efficiencies and can troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner
• Scan orders complete in Shopworks
• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Working knowledge of industrial high-speed sewing machines required
• Minimum of two (2) years experience as a sewing machine operator in an alterations environment preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend work orders written in English
• Regularly required to sit and manipulate garments using both hands for extended periods of time
• Frequently required to bend, discern colors, and inspect garments
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds

PAY RANGE: $16 - $18 per hour plus bonus
