JOB TITLE: Secondary School Counselor
DEPARTMENT: Calvary Christian Academy
REPORTS TO: High School Principal
STATUS: Exempt, Salary Twelve (12) month
HOURS: Full Time (40)
LOCATION: Calvary Christian Academy Fort Lauderdale

Purpose Statement:
This position's purpose is to guide secondary school students seeking assistance with school academics that affect spiritual growth, classroom behavior, and academic progress. The specific focus of this role is to help students develop academically in a manner that will enable them to be good disciples and stewards of the abilities and strengths God has given.
Scope:
This person interacts directly with secondary students, parents, staff, and administrators on behalf of students. This person assists students in various development, learning, and post-high school planning stages. The counselor will be proactive as a liaison between parents, faculty, and administration in support of students' academics assigned to them.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide educational counseling with individual students, along with individualized academic planning meetings with students, parents, and teachers.
- Data entry in maintaining academic records
- Proactive counseling to include assistance in the following areas: reviewing academic progress, identifying learning deficits, scholarship information, general college planning, the college application process, and career interests. Accept referrals from Administration as requested.
- Occasional referrals to CCFL ministries and community agencies to provide services to students and their families. Provide consultation with teachers, administrators, and parents on behalf of assigned students as appropriate. Orients new students to provide a comfortable and successful introduction to CCA.
- Assist with educational testing and student schedules.
- Provides academic support for students on academic probation.
- Coordinate with our Data Team to create individual students' schedules.
- Coordinate with our Discipleship & ESE Team for additional student support.
- Plan and execute Senior Soar
- Plan two (Fall and Spring) College fair can combine with FTL
- College/Career Readiness plan for each student
- Graduation Preparation
- Community Service
- Promote enroll DE
- Academic intervention

- Ensure students are on track to graduate

Qualifications/Skills/Gifts:
- Strong commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word
- Strong commitment to the Philosophy and Statement of Faith of Calvary Chapel and to the Mission Statement of Calvary Christian Academy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Master’s Degree (preferred) and/or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- Excellent organizational skills
- Gifts of administration and discernment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible with good time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
- Ability to be trusted with confidential information
- Ability to prioritize
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds
Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Full-time (40 hours/week); however, the incumbent may be required to work an evening or weekend day to attend a CCA event, or assist with a special project or in a circumstantial emergency affecting the church facilities.
