    GS-07: Must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least a GS-06 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include: managing office operations by developing and implementing secretarial procedures and policies; serving as clerical liaison between supervisor and staff; scheduling and/or arranging meetings or conferences; performing the following administrative functions: completing travel arrangements, preparing travel orders, reviewing and drafting correspondence, overseeing the work of subordinate clerical staff, screening visitors and telephone calls, scheduling meetings, and utilizing various office automation software

    GS-08: Must have at least 1 full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) maintaining the supervisor's schedule of appointments based on priorities and workload; (2) managing travel arrangements, travel authorizations, and vouchers for the supervisor and visiting officials; (3) providing support to administrative staff with telephone procedures, publications, and directives; (4) handling official correspondence such as reports, memoranda, mailing lists, and other confidential information.

    GS-09: Must have at least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) ensuring the supervisor's day-to-day plan is followed based on commitments and/or workload; (2) coordinating and attending meetings/conferences to include agenda preparation and/or taking meeting notes; (3) reviewing and/or maintaining correspondence for proper format, grammar, and distribution; (4) preparing and/or conducting training on secretarial work such as telephone procedures, publications, reports, and public relations

    For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using specialized experience alone-there is no substitution of education for specialized experience.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
