Security Director implements overall security strategy, policies, and standards to ensure the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Conducts regular audits and inspections to assess, identify, and mitigate any security vulnerabilities or gaps. Being a Security Director implements staff training and operational plans for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Manages and maintains systems, alarms, and other physical security measures. Additionally, Security Director delivers education programs and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is adequately informed and equipped to manage potential security issues. Participates in local, state, provincial, or federal working or advisory groups to keep abreast with all security-related information, directives, and events. Leads and directs significant investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials or agencies. Possess a broad knowledge of law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or related discipline. Typically reports to senior management. The Security Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     SUMMARY
    The Director of Security is responsible for developing, maintaining and improving all functions and operations of the Security Department at Lumen Field, Lumen Field Event Center and WAMU Theater. The Director of Security is also responsible for safeguarding the venue’s physical property and structures, while also overseeing and enforcing the security policies and procedures that promote the safety and security of all employees, guests, vendors and athletes. This position will require, at times, working events including evenings, weekends and holidays.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Provide safety for all guests, employees, clients, performers and assets at Lumen Field, Lumen Field Event Center and WAMU Theater by enforcing and regulating venue security policies and procedures
    • Implement industry best practices that ensure Lumen Field is a consistent leader amongst other NFL stadiums and sports facilities in security audits, technologies, security operations and industry best practices
    • Conduct Emergency Response training, Tabletop Exercises (TTX) and Full Training Exercises (FTX) for all staff and stakeholders to ensure familiarization with their roles and responses during a critical incident
    • Collaborate with the stakeholders from the NFL, MLS, NWSL, concert and tradeshow promoters and sponsors
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with high-level officials in law enforcement, government agencies, community organizations and private sector counterparts. Foster collaboration and sharing of resources for venue events. Serve as the primary point-of-contact with these partnerships in support of venue events
    • Develop and maintain an annual budget and business plan, to ensure fiscal goals are met and all expenses are responsibly managed
    • Meet regularly with Department Managers. Establish goals and objectives, track and record their job performances, provide ongoing feedback. Provide continuous mentorship and training opportunities to increase their knowledge, skills and abilities to effectively perform their duties
    • Responsible for managing the relationship with the venue’s third-party security contractor on all event security. Ensure the contractor’s staff has the necessary training to successfully perform their assigned duties and uphold the Security Department’s policies and procedures
    • Serve on a rotating basis as Building Manager on Duty (MOD) for events, assuming responsibility for the overall successful operations of the event
    • Ensure the venue is in compliance with the required sports leagues’ credentialing processes
    • Continue to partner with DHS to meet and exceed the current Safety Act standards and maintain records needed for future Safety Act recertification
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Five (5) or more years of progressive supervisory/management responsibility in a security related field
    • Management experience in a multi-use events venue, especially with developing security operations plans for sporting events, concerts and working with a diverse workforce
    • Ability to identify and assess security threats, and thereafter manage the identified risks and vulnerabilities
    • Proven ability to provide effective leadership and supervision to staff during critical incidents, emergencies and day-to-day operations, demonstrating a professional and diplomatic communication style
    • Demonstrated experience producing professional, detailed and accurate reports, suitable for dissemination to senior management, meeting stated deadlines
    • Proven work history and ability to work an extensive event driven schedule, including weekend, evening and holiday hours. Experience in a high-volume, service driven environment
    • Demonstrated ability to access, retain and protect sensitive and confidential business-related or proprietary information and situations
    • Knowledge of accounting and finance functions; experience drafting, proposing and managing budgets                                              
    • Ability to professionally interact with guests, visitors and staff at all levels                  
    • Knowledge of and compliance with Federal and State OSHA regulations, including fire and safety
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Five years (5) or more of security management experience in a professional sports and entertainment venue
    • Demonstrated experience working security roles for championship level sporting events
    • Demonstrated experience with conducting compliance audits of industry best practices and/or guidelines for large events and day-to-day operations
    • Proven experience conducting thorough investigations and documenting the results of venue incidents
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Responsible for managing Security Manager, Event Security Manager, Full and Part Time Security Officers
    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) required
    • Certificates in Security Management/Training preferred but not required

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
    • The salary for this position is: $120,000 - $155,000. The salary applies to the current posting. The posted salary may vary based on key factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related knowledge, experience and skill set.
