JOB TITLE: SECURITY OFFICER - DISPATCH -Afternoon Shift-
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATIONS: SECURITY
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision, the primary objective shall be to protect the property and integrity of The Toledo Zoo. Effectively carry out safety and security policies through communication that provide for protection of visitors, employees, animals and zoo assets. Position reports to the Security Supervisor – Afternoon Shift. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and requires forty hours per scheduled work week
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Duties will include, but are not limited to monitoring and reporting on the following: Radio and phone communication, managing gate traffic, security camera surveillance system, access control system, Ally CAD system, intrusion system, JCI fire suppression system, emergency weather radar and weather radio.
Review all Security related logs, prepare daily and weekly updates for the Director of Security.
Submit weekly surveillance camera status log to the Security Director, Security Technician and First Shift Supervisor.
Dispatch Security Officers, assist with officer requests, monitor response time and manage internal/external security requests.
Review security camera footage for emergency related purposes and external criminal related investigations.
Responsible for dissemination of information from security instructions and bulletins.
Notify the proper authority in the case of an emergency or other serious circumstance as they pertain to the grounds, exhibits or animals.
911 and emergency point of contact
Maintain a daily equipment inventory; keys, flashlights, med packs for each shift. Conduct a daily inventory of equipment, including portable radios, ensure all equipment is functional and fully charged.
Maintain an emergency dispatch log, including daily log of all calls and dispatch notebook.
Maintain updated emergency contact lists and security related documents.
Maintain all security related office bulletin boards and white board updates.
Enter all pertinent security related information in ShiftNote, act in an emergency capacity for critical incidents and write reports as needed.
Submit work orders and service tickets.
Ensure all lost and found property is submitted in a timely fashion.
Shall maintain strict adherence to the policies and procedures established by The Toledo Zoo Security Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs other administrative and other related duties as required.
Extensive knowledge of policies and procedures.
Train Security personnel in dispatch duties.
Maintain office and building cleanliness.
Respond to security related incidents, including emergency response as needed.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Must have a minimum of 2 years security and/or dispatch experience and degree in Criminal Justice or related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience as a dispatcher or security personnel preferred. Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
