Security Manager implements security strategy, policies, and standards to ensure the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Conducts regular audits and inspections to assess, identify, and mitigate any security vulnerabilities or gaps. Being a Security Manager trains staff and establishes operational plans for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Monitors and inspects systems, alarms, and other physical security measures. Additionally, Security Manager participates in education programs and contributes to communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is adequately informed and equipped to manage potential security issues. Engages with local, state, provincial, or federal authorities to keep abreast with all security-related information, directives, and events. Initiates or assists with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials or agencies. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or related discipline. Typically reports to a director. The Security Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Security Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Description


    Plans, directs, and supervises the activities of the Safety and Security Department to provide maximum safety and security for students, staff, center property and the surrounding community.

    • Develop and monitor staff schedules for 24-hour, 7 day a week coverage.
    • Develop and maintain Center Safety Plan, and Emergency and Disaster Plan (and weather-related Evacuation Plan) and conduct the yearly risk assessment survey.
    • Establishes and communicates safety, security, and fire prevention policies with pertinent center and DOL regulations to students and staff.
    • Provide records and reports of department activities upon request by management, insurance underwriters, DOL, and corporate office.
    • Serves as the center’s representative and maintains effective liaison with law enforcement agencies in the community.
    • Responsible for monitoring all center facilities to ensure compliance with OSHA Standards.
    • Conducts PRH required training with center staff.
    • Ensures Officers assigned to shift arrive on time and are appropriately dressed.
    • Reviews logbooks and incident reports for timeliness and accuracy
    • Conduct weekly center walk-though and inspections.
    • Attend all safety committee meetings.
    • Monitor and engage in investigations; report all findings to the Center Director or designee.
    • Assesses personnel needs and works with the Human Resources department to screen and interview potential staff. Recommends promotions, transfers, and merit evaluations within the department. Conducts and prepares performance appraisals.
    • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
    • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
    • Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
    • Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred; High School Diploma or equivalency required.
    • Three to five years related experience required.
    • One to two years of supervisory experience.
    • Experience working with diverse population of youth.
    • A valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
