Security Specialist administers, coordinates, and evaluates security programs that support the strategy, policies, and standards established for the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Compiles data and analyzes results of audits, inspections, daily logs, and incident reports to assess security vulnerabilities, measure program effectiveness, and identify the need for additional resources. Being a Security Specialist coordinates any required security clearance processing or investigative research for employees or job candidates with applicable entities. Assists with the development of training, education programs, and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is prepared for potential security issues, crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Additionally, Security Specialist monitors communications and stays informed about local, state, provincial, or federal security-related information, directives, and events. May coordinate or assist with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Security Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Cyber Security Specialist

  • SUMMARY:

    Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of securing Little River Casino Resort’s various information systems and providing additional support to the Help Desk. Assist with annual cyber security assessments and penetration tests, research, and report on emerging threats. Maintain a compliant state of the Cyber Security Systems of the department. Perform organizational data processing functions. Perform basic maintenance and repair on all IT administered equipment.

    Assist and do what you and your department can to create a fun, exciting entertainment experience for our guests and engaging, inclusive, supportive work environment for our team members.

    MINIMUM NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:

    • High School diploma or GED
    • A 2-year technical degree in cyber security or related field and 2 years working experience or 3 years progressive hands-on experience in network or Information Technology security system administration and support functions
    • At minimum Security or equivalent certification or the ability to demonstrate proficiency and must gain certification within 89 days and maintain during employment

    Experience:

    • Working technical knowledge of endpoint protection, vulnerability scanners, SIEM, cloud security tools, identity access management systems, encryption technologies, firewall management, IDS/IPS, URL filtering, and endpoint detection and response tools
    • Working knowledge of IT (Information Technology) security principles, techniques, and technologies
    • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, and other network administration protocols
    • Extensive knowledge of current Windows Server and Client operating systems
    • Working technical knowledge of Cisco Security and Switching products
    • Experience working with a Tribally run casino and/or resort preferred

    A documented and verifiable combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree requirements.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Conditions of employment with Little River Casino Resort include passing a pre-employment drug test excluding marijuana, a background investigation to secure a license from the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Gaming Commission, passing Resort background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position and successfully completing a 90-day introductory period.

    Individual must not have been charged or released from employment or involved in anything which could be considered a liability to the Resort, e.g. harassment, theft, violence, or integrity issues.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provides Help Desk Support when scheduled.
    • Assists with further developing and maintaining the enterprise’s IT Security Systems and architecture.
    • Assists in creating, presenting, and maintaining the enterprise’s security awareness training program.
    • Assists in creating and maintaining the enterprise’s IT security documentation (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, and procedures).
    • Assists with the enforcement of IT security policies and best practices.
    • Assists to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all network devices and data residing on or transmitted to/from/through enterprise workstations, servers, and data repositories.
    • Works with the Cyber Security Manager on deployments, integrations, and configurations of all new and existing IT security solutions.
    • Assists the Cyber Security Manager in all daily activities and escalated helpdesk requests.
    • Assists with investigations, the design and execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits.
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.
    • Provides advanced desktop technical support and services to end users and is responsible for general troubleshooting and repair of workstation computers and peripherals, installation, and configuration of the operating system and application software.
    • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves hardware and software issues.
    • Assists in the support of network operations.
    • Must satisfactorily complete all training assigned by the Resort.
    • Must adhere to safety rules and regulations of Little River Casino Resort and the IT department.
    • Must be aware of and adhere to the emergency and evacuation procedures.
    • Must be aware of and adhere to the Resorts Health & Safety Program.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the team member may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, and reading. Must have manual dexterity necessary to manipulate all computer/video equipment. Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions. The team member must occasionally be able to push, pull, grasp, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds routinely. Any lifting and/or moving over 50 pounds needs to be done in a team lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, document, computer, distance, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with team members, vendors, and guests in individual, department, small and/or large group meetings. Communication in face-to-face discussions, telephone, emails, and other electronic ways required. Must be able to operate computer equipment for extended periods of time. Must be able to walk, sit, and/or stand for periods of up to 8 hours. Must have a good sense of balance and be able to bend and kneel.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    A working environment is the setting, social features, and physical conditions in which a job is performed. The general working environment for the Resort is office, gaming floor, food outlet, hotel and convention/entertainment center including flashing lights, frequent loud noises, and a smoke-filled environment. Must be flexible with work schedule for any hours and/or shift, as assigned, according to business needs. Occasional overtime required. Occasionally must deal with angry or hostile individuals. Extensive computer use.
