SECURITY SUPERVISOR supervises a team of security guards that ensure the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Schedules security guard staff shifts. Being a SECURITY SUPERVISOR assigns guards to patrol and inspect of buildings and grounds. Ensures protection from intruders, fire hazards, theft, and vandalism. Additionally, SECURITY SUPERVISOR monitors security systems and responds to alarms, reports of issues, or requests for assistance. Ensures that all security events are logged, documented, and reported using standard procedures. Trains staff on policies and procedures for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Updates team on local, state, provincial, or federal security-related information, directives, and events. Assists with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Basic Life Support (BLS). Typically reports to a manager. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.   • SUMMARY:

    Responsible for the effective functioning of the Security Department on assigned shift including accurately and thoroughly investigating and reporting all security related incidents, which occur on property.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

    • Assists in the supervision of Security Officers on assigned shift and in the daily operations of the Security Department.
    • Maintains adequate staffing levels, by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, promoting and disciplining employees, as needed.
    • Patrols the property on assigned shift, identifying potential security and/or safety hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate individual, to ensure the safety and protection of guests, employees and the entire facility.
    • Acts as a back-up to Security Officers on assigned shift, and assumes their duties when necessary.
    • Prepares and requests reports on incidents involving guests, employees and/or the facility, and follows up until report is complete.
    • Guards all transfers of monies and chips on the casino floor, as well as the physical transportation of chip fills and credits.
    • Interacts with guests and employees in a positive, professional manner.
    • Ensures a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction throughout the property is achieved and maintained.
    • Facilitates the flow of information throughout the property, by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
    • Held accountable, to a high degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.
    • Acts as a representative of the property, in meeting with guests, employees and witnesses, to investigate security-related incidents.
    • Prepares clear, detailed reports of security incidents, which take place on property. Coordinates with the Surveillance Department on security-related matters.
    • Works closely with Risk Management to effectively resolve guest complaints.
    • Maintains a working knowledge of the facilities, as well as special events on property, in order to advise guests and fellow employees of same whenever possible.
    • Makes suggestions and recommendations, as appropriate, for improvements to policies, procedures, or the facility.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Two (2) or more year of experience in security or law enforcement or related field. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.  Some college preferred.

    SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    Excellent communication skills required. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word 2007 and Excel 2007.  Excellent observation, interview, verbal, and writing skills required.

    This position requires a Level 2 Gaming License.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.  Ability to write effective reports and memos. Ability to respond to inquiries from employees or guests.  Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to interpret data from graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to apply common sense reasoning to variety of situations.
