Accountabilities and Duties

The Designer is accountable to Mayshark for developing design solutions for projects that he or she is assigned, including prospective projects. Coordinating with Project Managers is an expectation of this position. Designers meet with clients to help capture their ideas and transform them into executable plans.

Specific duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Collaborating with Project Managers, Field personnel and other staff to help synchronize plans and processes from the beginning to the end of assigned and other projects;
• Meeting clients to capture ideas, understand needs, manage expectations, market and sell services and professionally conduct business;
• Consulting technical resources to ensure building code and structural compliance;
• Researching concepts and materials to support design expectations;
• Creating conceptual designs based on client expectations and best practices;
• Specifying materials, components, parts, supplies and other details to produce sourcing documents for ordering;
• Drafting on Vectorworks, Photoshop and 2020 Interior Design software and utilizing Microsoft Office and other tools;
• Producing drawings;
• Detailed kitchen design;
• Facilitating design implementations;
• Sourcing materials as needed and within budget, and placing orders as needed;
• Conducting on-site observations and providing design-oriented recommendations;
• Communicating effectively with teammates, subcontractors, suppliers and clients;
• Remaining current with best practices and industry trends;
• Suggesting ways to improve efficiency throughout the Company; and
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

A Designer must have exceptional creativity and innovation with a solid background in construction processes. He or she must also understand best practices, current trends, accessibility needs, quality control and how each of these factors affects living and work space. A Designer must be well organized with exceptional communication skills, and he or she must be able to work both independently and on a team. A Designer must also favor safety above everything else. Specific qualifications include:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a design related discipline is preferred but not required;
• Classes in interior design, drawing, and computer-aided design (CAD);
• One or more years of design experience;
• Proficiency with design, drafting and other software;
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and other systems;
• Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints;
• Ability to communicate and report up and down effectively;
• Ability to work independently to solve problems;
• Familiarity with OSHA guidelines; and
• Proficiency in the Apple ecosystem.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
