POSITION: SEWING MACHINE OPERATOR
TEAM: MANUFACTURING
REPORTS TO: PLANT MANAGER
PURPOSE
Operates sewing machine to perform sewing and assembly of materials or sub-assemblies according to Bill of Material (BOM) and/or other work instructions. Prepares packages for shipping according to production schedule and standards.
DELIVERABLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensure accurate sewing, assembly, and packaging of products per Bill of Material (BOM) for issued work orders
2. Follows standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and job safety requirements
- Performs final visual and functional inspection of product, as required per instructions
3. Identifies and isolates any non-conforming product
4. Completes and maintains required production reports
5. Cross-trains in packaging area according to business needs
6. Assists with ensuring the safety, cleanliness of work area and equipment
7. Involved in cycle/physical counts, as required
8. Models company values and behaviors

- Supports company’s and team’s initiatives
9. Performs other duties according to business needs
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience & Skills)
- High School or equivalent (i.e. GED) and 12 months of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Trade Education – One year of machine experience (preferred)
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals)
- Required to read and write English and follow verbal & written instructions
- Ability to work effectively alone and within a team environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Regularly required to meet critical deadlines and details, which may be stressful
- Frequently exposed to shop elements (E.g. noise, moving parts and equipment, dust and fumes)
- Requires use of personal protective equipment such as eye, hearing, hand and foot protection (e.g. Safety Glasses, ear phones, work gloves, etc.)
