POSITION: SEWING MACHINE OPERATORTEAM: MANUFACTURINGREPORTS TO: PLANT MANAGER
PURPOSEOperates sewing machine to perform sewing and assembly of materials or sub-assemblies according to Bill of Material (BOM) and/or other work instructions. Prepares packages for shipping according to production schedule and standards.
DELIVERABLES & RESPONSIBILITIES1. Ensure accurate sewing, assembly, and packaging of products per Bill of Material (BOM) for issued work orders2. Follows standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and job safety requirements- Performs final visual and functional inspection of product, as required per instructions
3. Identifies and isolates any non-conforming product4. Completes and maintains required production reports5. Cross-trains in packaging area according to business needs6. Assists with ensuring the safety, cleanliness of work area and equipment7. Involved in cycle/physical counts, as required8. Models company values and behaviors- Manages individual performance, personal development, and training
- Supports company’s and team’s initiatives
9. Performs other duties according to business needs
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience & Skills)- High School or equivalent (i.e. GED) and 12 months of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Trade Education – One year of machine experience (preferred)
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals)
- Required to read and write English and follow verbal & written instructions
- Ability to work effectively alone and within a team environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:- Regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Regularly required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and climb or balance
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more
- Occasionally required to operate computers and other office/technology equipment, requiring gross and fine motor skills, and to employ eye-hand coordination
- Frequently required to sit for prolonged periods of time with repetitive movements (see attached description)
- Frequently required to view detailed drawings or reports closely
WORKING CONDITIONS:- Regularly required to meet critical deadlines and details, which may be stressful
- Frequently exposed to shop elements (E.g. noise, moving parts and equipment, dust and fumes)
- Requires use of personal protective equipment such as eye, hearing, hand and foot protection (e.g. Safety Glasses, ear phones, work gloves, etc.)
