Sewing Machine Operator jobs in Grand Rapids, MI

This position requires a creative, detail-oriented team player to fabricate custom display projects. The individual in this position is responsible for operating and maintaining industrial sewing and overlock machines used to finish a variety of printed and unprinted materials. Within the finishing department, this individual will work with other sewing machine operators and coordinate with members of the print production team to meet project deadlines. Attention to detail, manual dexterity and time management are vital skills in this job while demonstrating an ability to follow directives and instructions.

· Custom sewing using industrial walking foot, needle feed, and serging machines.

· Interpreting work orders and producing product accordingly in a timely manner.

· Accurately measuring and fitting materials to structures.

· Finishing graphics using a wide array of materials per custom specifications.

· Working with and adjusting machines for a variety of vinyl, stretch, and flag fabrics.

· Performing quality inspection before, during, and after output of each project.

· Monitoring and maintaining the timing of each order to meet deadlines.

· Communicating with Production Manager on statuses and setbacks.

· Cleaning and maintaining machines and work area.

· Providing support in other areas of production when needed.

· Assessing inventory of sewing supplies and advising orders.

· Plotting material use to minimize waste.

· 2 years of related experience and/or professional training & education.

· Creative thinker with high attention to details.

· Strong math and measurement skills.

· High quality and personal work standards.

· Capable of working with firm deadlines.

· Ability to work independently.

· Able to lift to 35 pounds.

· High School diploma or equivalent.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
