Saw Operator
Department: Saw Operator
Work Schedule: 1st Shift--5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
2nd Shift: 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.--$2/hr. Pay Differential
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for inspecting instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists. Operate automatic band saws for precision cuts of metal sheets, tubes, rods...etc.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and preforms other tasks as assigned
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings and confers with management and/or engineering to determine specifications and quality standards
· Ability to select items for inspection at specified stages in the production process and knowledge of how to verify conformity
· Ability to perform inspections and record data
· Ability to evaluate and record data to validate or indicate deviations from specifications
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions and procedure manuals
· Ability to complete reports and correspondence in writing
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
· Ability to read and use calipers, micrometers, gauges and other measuring instruments used to perform the job
· Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers concerning quality matters
· Must be able to read prints, drawings and specifications and apply knowledge to determine type of material to be used and dimensions
· Set up and operate the saws and to verify the accuracy of settings
· Knowledge of how to handle paperwork when receiving raw material from vendors
· Ability to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance cutting and adjust controls as required
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as job orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
· Ability to complete reports and correspondence in writing
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
· Ability to use measuring tape and other common measuring instruments.
· Ability to use overhead crane to move material
· Ability to use common hand tools required to perform the job
· Apply heat number on follower of every piece of material that is stored
· Ability to recognize different types of material to be sawed
· Ability to work in-group situations
· Ability to be punctual
