Sheetmetal Mechanic jobs in Austin, TX
Sheetmetal Mechanic sets up and operates machines such as drill presses, punch presses, saws, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment to shape and alter sheetmetal according to specifications. Follows blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings to shape metal accurately. Being a Sheetmetal Mechanic uses hand and power tools to shape, cut, and smooth metal and to blend seams. May set up and operate soldering and welding equipment. Additionally, Sheetmetal Mechanic typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires a Sheetmetal Apprenticeship. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Sheetmetal Mechanic works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Job Overview -
Our continued growth has resulted in the need for an experienced Sheetmetal/Ductwork BIM/VDC Coordinator (Detailer) to join our Virtual Design & Construction group.
Key Responsibilities -
- This role will create working shop drawings of complex nature using advanced detailing techniques from engineering documents that are used to support shop fabrication and field installation on various construction projects.
- This includes coordinating drawings with other trades and working closely with assigned Project Managers, Construction Supervisors, field personnel, vendors, and design engineers.
Work Qualifications -
- Field experience with HVAC systems is required.
- Strong working knowledge of duct systems is required.
- Technical knowledge and experience with AutoCAD.
- Utilize problem solving/analytical skills and strong communication skills in keeping projects on track.
