Follows blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings to shape metal accurately. Being a Sheetmetal Mechanic uses hand and power tools to shape, cut, and smooth metal and to blend seams. May set up and operate soldering and welding equipment. Additionally, Sheetmetal Mechanic typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires a Sheetmetal Apprenticeship. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Sheetmetal Mechanic works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Position Summary
NEBCO, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Mechanic to provide preventative and corrective repairs on company automobiles, diesel trucks, and other vehicles or machinery. $2,500 hiring bonus.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests and identifying worn and damages parts.
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades and controlling corrosion.
Performs all work in accordance with schedules, policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety.
Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts or systems—such as power and drive trains, electrical air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering hydraulics, completes machine shop operations.
Makes alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, hydraulics, pneumatic and traction units.
Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety and combustion control standards.
Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing and painting.
Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
Shop tools are provided by company. Employee must provide a full general toolbox with some special tools.
Must continue to update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical journals and regulation publications.
Maintains and assures cleanliness and neatness of shop area. Assures safety standards are met.

This is a physically demanding job that regularly requires the employee to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.

Must be flexible regarding the work assigned due to the schedule of our crews in the field.
