Sheetmetal Mechanic sets up and operates machines such as drill presses, punch presses, saws, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment to shape and alter sheetmetal according to specifications. Follows blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings to shape metal accurately. Being a Sheetmetal Mechanic uses hand and power tools to shape, cut, and smooth metal and to blend seams. May set up and operate soldering and welding equipment. Additionally, Sheetmetal Mechanic typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires a Sheetmetal Apprenticeship. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Sheetmetal Mechanic works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Ability to perform any electrical and mechanical repairs on all Extruders, Thermoformers and service all ancillary systems as required for production requirements.
Must be familiar with all facets and procedures of plant operations and will be expected to diagnose and repair faulty production and related plant equipment with the minimum of supervision using the provided schematics, drawings, and equivalent documentation.

Employee will work in a manufacturing and / or warehouse environment in all types of weather. While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works with manufacturing equipment.
An employee performing the duties of this job is required to use proper safety procedures to eliminate any potential hazards.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent certification or experience on the job, manufacturing experience; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience would be good.
Need to have good math, reading, and writing skills.
