Sheetmetal Mechanic sets up and operates machines such as drill presses, punch presses, saws, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment to shape and alter sheetmetal according to specifications. Follows blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings to shape metal accurately. Being a Sheetmetal Mechanic uses hand and power tools to shape, cut, and smooth metal and to blend seams. May set up and operate soldering and welding equipment. Additionally, Sheetmetal Mechanic typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires a Sheetmetal Apprenticeship. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Sheetmetal Mechanic works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Job Description:
Candidates will provide sales, marketing and merchandising of services to promote SMS's sheet metal fabrication product sales and installation including estimating, planning, order/contract review, organizing and selling sheet metal fabrication products.
They will be responsible for determining the cost of materials, labor, tooling, outside services and submit a cost estimate to the customer. In addition, they must Interact with customer's purchasing agents and engineers as well as supplier representatives when obtaining information, pricing or addressing issues.
Minimum 5 years experience
Ø Able to review and understand scope of work for project bid
Ø Knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes
Ø Knowledge of precision metal fabrication
Ø Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, blueprints, and details.(Auto CAD experience)
Ø Must be able to deliver under pressure and meet project deadlines
Ø Able to manage multiple projects
Ø Excellent communication and analytical skills
Ø Work well in team environment
Ø Familiar with ISO9001 certification & procedures.
Ø Strong computer skills, proficient in Excel, Word
Ø Exceptional math skills.
Ø Understanding of MRP/ERP systems.
Ø Proven problem solving skills
