Ship Engineer jobs in Elkhart, IN

Ship Engineer repairs and maintains gasoline and diesel engines in boats, such as yachts, tugs, and trawlers, following specifications. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field. Being a Ship Engineer is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, Ship Engineer performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.     Responsibilities:
    1. Design and develop new Luxury Fifth Wheel models from concept to production.
    2. Utilize CAD software to create detailed schematics and blueprints; familiarity with Inventor
      3D is a plus.
    3. Conduct thorough testing and analysis to ensure safety and performance standards are met.
    4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and marketing to bring projects to fruition.
    5. Assist in creating Bills of Materials (BOM) and related prints to streamline manufacturing processes.
    6. Work closely with manufacturing, purchasing, and vendors to integrate new and current products successfully.
    7. Coordinate with suppliers to source materials and components, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
       
    Requirements:
    • Proven experience in product design and development, preferably in the recreational vehicle industry.
    • Proficiency in CAD software, especially SolidWorks or AutoCAD; knowledge of Inventor 3D is advantageous and proficient in Microsoft Excel.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
