Ship Engineer repairs and maintains gasoline and diesel engines in boats, such as yachts, tugs, and trawlers, following specifications. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field. Being a Ship Engineer is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, Ship Engineer performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Primary Objective of Position:
This position is responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate processing of all the shipping, receiving and put away activities.
Major Areas of Performance:
Shipping
• Prepare paperwork and assemble orders for shipment
• Responsible for shipping freight, conventions and normal orders
• Work with shipping companies to schedule trucks
• Prepare packing list and bill of lading (BOL) via manifest system
• Creation of export documentation for international shipment
• Maximize load density and efficiencies
Receiving
• Verify receipts and orders for accuracy, count and note damage exceptions on bill of lading
• Update all reports necessary to track receiving metrics
• Schedule receiving appointments and update appropriate forms
• Responsible for handling incoming returned materials
Both Shipping & Receiving
• Update Warehouse Management System (WMS) with transactions
• Report any discrepancies as necessary
• Complete required paperwork and project time-tracking documentation
• Assist team members in meeting and exceeding customer expectations
• Update supervisor and team lead on issues or concerns
• Participate in process Improvement by communicating to supervisor and/or team lead
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
• Support and maintain corporate quality, health and safety standards, processes, policies, practices and work instructions. (ISO standards where applicable)
• All other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• PC computer skills required
• Previous Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) experience required
• Previous warehouse experience required
• Strong math and reading skills
• Strong analytical aptitude
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment
• Ability to pay attention to detail to ensure accuracy
• Physical requirements include: lifting (40lbs), carrying, bending, sitting, stretching, and standing for long periods of time
