Being a Ship Engineer is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Job Title: Linux Engineer
Responsibilities of the Linux Engineer
EDC Consulting LLC (EDC) is seeking candidates for a Linux Engineer supporting the U.S. Army in Radford, VA.
The Linux Engineer will:
Work with Government engineers to develop and maintain the architecture.
Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for the deployment and sustainment of Linux-based services.
Utilize IaC for the provisioning of customer Linux resources as new applications are hosted on the solution.
Maintain Spacewalk patching servers for all Linux hosts to patch from.
Provide daily administration of Linux-based services.
Harden Linux-based services per commercial best practices and required government cybersecurity controls.
Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis of any Linux issues.
Coordinate major version upgrades of existing Linux virtual machines by deploying new virtual machine resources and assisting application owners with migrating to new VMs and then tearing down the old VMs.
Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of hands-on experience or Master's Degree with 10 years of hands-on experience.
Senior-level experience with OEL/RHEL.
Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills, including Terraform and Ansible Tower.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack – network, storage, server, and applications.
Working knowledge of DoD STIGs and IA Vulnerability Management (IAVM) – preferred.
CompTIA Security Certified
Active DOD Security Clearance
