The Shipping Documentation Specialist II coordinates the preparation and organization of bills of lading, packing slips, invoices, and required export licenses or compliance documents. Prepares shipping documentation and processes orders. Being a Shipping Documentation Specialist II troubleshoots shipping delays or changes with carriers and communicates to customers. Utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other systems to record and track all shipping transactions. In addition, Shipping Documentation Specialist II ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. Investigates and resolves shipping non-conformance. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. Being a Shipping Documentation Specialist II works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Working as a Shipping Documentation Specialist II typically requires 1-3 years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification. Snelling is currently recruiting for a dependable, hardworking Shipping and Receiving Clerk for a well-established company in the Trussville area. The pay for this position will be $19.00-22.00/hr, and the shift will be 1st.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Prepares and packs orders for shipment.
- Assembles orders, and checks against shipping or customer order.
- Reports shortages and incomplete orders to the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor or other appropriate lead personnel.
- Selects appropriate containers and packing material.
- Operates standard manual and automatic equipment.
- Stacks shipments on skids/pallets and takes shipments to the shipping dock.
- Receives and unpacks shipping/packaging materials and supplies into the shipping department.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Receives, unpacks, and issues materials to the stockroom, warehouse, or designated location.
- Checks goods received against bills of lading, purchase orders, etc.
- Places materials, supplies, and other received goods on shelves, racks, or floor locations.
- Sorts, counts, and checks received items.
- Maintains clerical records.
- Conducts pick-up and deliveries using company vehicles.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to read and understand written instructions.
- Computer mouse and keyboard familiarity, simple data entry in order to print schedules and report work accomplished. Able to locate system folders and print various reports and labels.
- Good communication skills by phone or via Email.
- Data entry in web-based trafficking software in order to plan shipments.
- Operates forklifts, hand pallet trucks, hoists, overhead cranes, and loading docks as needed.
- High school education/GED required
- One year experience.
