Shipping Operations Manager manages shipping operations' daily activities, including order processing, inventory tracking, documentation, and transportation oversight. Utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other systems to record and track all shipping transactions, analyze performance metrics, and generate reports. Being a Shipping Operations Manager ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. Investigates and resolves shipping quality issues, damages, or lost freight claims. Additionally, Shipping Operations Manager develops and maintains relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Essential Functions
Process prescriptions as needed, including: gathering and recording patient and insurance information in the computer system, accurately labeling, and filling prescriptions. Get approval from the Staff Pharmacist for each prescription, as well as major medical insurance approval as needed
Communicate with patients and insurance companies to verify information and coverage. Resolve issues and rejected claims as needed. Submit prior authorization paperwork as needed for patient prescriptions
Print and organize shipping labels and appropriate paperwork needed for each order. Pack prescriptions in stable packaging for shipment to patients
Manage pharmaceutical inventory and anticipate future needs. Order drugs as needed to adequately meet customer demand
Prepare daily shipping list for Intake Coordinators to determine future shipping dates for prescriptions
Contact patients to review VSP policies and procedures and to set up refills
Manage inbound and outbound calls and emails.
Track deliveries to ensure prescription packages arrived as scheduled
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and professional standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
Attend and contribute to departmental meetings. May assist in training new staff.
Work Environment
This position operates in a closed-door pharmacy environment supported by an on-site pharmacist.

Knowledge of insurance formularies, brand name and generic medications, pharmacy laws, and insurance requirements. Requires computer and calculator skills, expert customer service skills, ability to understand and follow policies and procedures, written and oral communication proficiency, accuracy, time management, teamwork, collaboration skills, organizational skills, expert telephone skills, ability to handle frequent interruptions, and email skill. Required Education and Experience
Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program with Board Certification and 1-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
