Utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other systems to record and track all shipping transactions, analyze performance metrics, and generate reports. Being a Shipping Operations Manager ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. Investigates and resolves shipping quality issues, damages, or lost freight claims. Additionally, Shipping Operations Manager develops and maintains relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Shipping Operations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Position Overview
The Operations Intern will have the opportunity to learn all areas of port agency operations. From ensuring our clients’ vessels have smooth turnarounds in accordance with our clients’ interest, governmental regulations, and Moran’s own operational standards, to coordinating with government and port officials and the vessel itself to set berthing arrangements for each vessel, this position provides candidates with valuable first-hand experience. You will work closely with the team of agents in your office and contribute directly to the success of Moran while also gaining valuable, first-hand experience in the Maritime Industry with a premier provider of shipping transportation services.
