Shipping Operations Manager manages shipping operations' daily activities, including order processing, inventory tracking, documentation, and transportation oversight. Utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other systems to record and track all shipping transactions, analyze performance metrics, and generate reports. Being a Shipping Operations Manager ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. Investigates and resolves shipping quality issues, damages, or lost freight claims. Additionally, Shipping Operations Manager develops and maintains relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Shipping Operations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Shipping Operations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Shipping Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position manages and coordinates activities of employees engaged in preparing, verifying and maintaining records on all shipments, and inventory control.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:- Operate within USDA/HACCP guidelines.
- Promote a safe environment following state, federal and company safety standards.
- Produce products that meet or exceed the customers’ (internal and external) requirements and provide excellent customer service.
- Provide positive people oriented work environment, designed to build morale.
- Complete all paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
BASIC SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:- Must have supervision experience in shipping and inventory control.
- Good interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills are necessary with experience with Microsoft Office Suite Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- SAP experience a plus.
- Must be able to demonstrate strong leadership and supervisory skills.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required; College Degree preferred
