We are currently looking for a Shipping Manager to join our team in Macon, GA!

SUMMARY

The shipping manager’s main role is to procure transportation services to ensure that customers receive product intact and on time. This position manages the process and the people to hit critical KPI. The employee must work independently using discretion and decision making skills that have financial impact. This position has the responsibility of developing the best methods and procedures for transportation of products to the customers. Accountable for shipping products with correct documentation, when scheduled, in accordance with customer routing guides and other specifications. Customer instruction for freight and accuracy must be followed. If customer conditions are not met, the DC will incur in chargebacks. The Shipping Manager also manages an office team of routing personnel whose duties are to ensure shipments are correct when they leave the DC.

Responsibilities

• Manage the process of scheduling shipment pickup according to customer specification and DC ship plan, complete all shipment documentation and trigger ASN and invoice processes. Performance to be measured against daily ship plan.
• Track carton weight against ship plan and follow up on cartons needed to complete shift schedule.
• DC shipment accuracy in conformance to customer routing guide. Ensure bills of lading (BOL’s) are accurate and complete. Work with chargeback functions to resolve chargeback issues. Performance to be measured through relevant chargeback measures
• Maintain accurate and up to date record of routing guides and other instructions for each customer in a book so that it is easily understood by shipping and traffic associates. Develop and organize traffic procedures.
• Evaluate and select carriers, methods of transport and suitable routes based on customer routing guides, cost and on-time delivery goals
• Monitor shipment and the observance of traffic/shipping procedures
• Manage all customer shipping issues, including claims for loss or damages
• Work with customer receiving centers and with trucking companies to identify and implement ways to improve processes for both PEI and the customer.
• Responsible for assigned shift activities associated with the implementation of process improvements. Maintain accurate and up to date process flow diagrams and procedures for all traffic functions. Ensure all associates have been trained and are conforming to approved methods and procedures
• Set measurements and goals for the traffic department and direct report. Summarize measures and report performance as required to management. Ensure performance reviews, associate counseling and training are conducted appropriately. Ensure compliance to company policies in such areas as HR, safety, loss prevention, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED plus 5 years in DC and or manufacturing experience
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory/administrative experience. Working knowledge of warehouse functions

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Weekend availability

Experience:

• Warehouse experience: 3 years (Preferred)
