SUMMARY
The shipping manager’s main role is to procure transportation services to ensure that customers receive product intact and on time. This position manages the process and the people to hit critical KPI. The employee must work independently using discretion and decision making skills that have financial impact. This position has the responsibility of developing the best methods and procedures for transportation of products to the customers. Accountable for shipping products with correct documentation, when scheduled, in accordance with customer routing guides and other specifications. Customer instruction for freight and accuracy must be followed. If customer conditions are not met, the DC will incur in chargebacks. The Shipping Manager also manages an office team of routing personnel whose duties are to ensure shipments are correct when they leave the DC.
