Shipping Operations Manager manages shipping operations' daily activities, including order processing, inventory tracking, documentation, and transportation oversight. Utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other systems to record and track all shipping transactions, analyze performance metrics, and generate reports. Being a Shipping Operations Manager ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. Investigates and resolves shipping quality issues, damages, or lost freight claims. Additionally, Shipping Operations Manager develops and maintains relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Shipping Operations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Shipping Operations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     How you will be successful….

    People
    • Building strong rapport with vendors, customers and employees.
    • Delegating work to effectively distribute workload, empower, challenge, and develop employees to provide them with a rewarding experience.
    • Acts as a champion of employee’s career and advancement by coaching employees based on individual, branch and company needs, objectives and skill sets.

    • Partnering with People Team on employee turnover and retention, recruitment, performance management and employee engagement.
    • Ensuring personal and professional development goals are set, this is measured, and regular 1:1’s are completed with all direct reports along with ensuring your direct reports are doing the same with employees whom they supervise.
    • Performing all management duties in manner consistent with Green Worldwide culture when hiring, training, and developing, coaching and counseling, evaluating, and disciplining employees.

    Product
    • Having an in-depth knowledge of Green’s products and services and how to present those to clients in order to increase sales and maximize customer satisfaction.
    • Knowing your local market; clients, potential clients and competitors.
    • Through your team, delivering best-in- class customer service, managing customer expectations and satisfaction.
    • Leveraging all of the technologies that Green utilizes and understanding how do they provide a competitive advantage.
    • Working with sales team to execute sales strategy. This includes, but is not limited to, personally building and maintaining a book of business.
    • Being Responsible and engaged in Business Development for the Branch (and across the company where applicable) to increase profits and profit margins.
    • Taking ownership for the full P/L and performance of the Branch and takes action needed to meet budgeted guidelines and achieve defined KPI’s within the Branch.
    • Promoting global reach by working closely with Greens Worldwide global partners to identify and close business opportunities and to strengthen our brand.

    • Collaborating across department and branch locations to increase efficiencies and service to customers on a National Level.
    • Continually striving for additional value creation and efficiencies for our customers, including improvement of existing KPIs.
    • Adapting, embracing, and managing change in a manner that results in little to no adverse impact to branch customers or employees.
    • Proactively keeps management informed of major developments within the Branch.
    • Actively manages and drives financially related activities to include but not limited to, Accounts Receivable, File Level Closing, and profitability verification, and dispute resolution.
    • Accountable for working with leadership and L&D to facilitate related training, address client issues to ensure optimal product level performance at the branch level.
    • Holding branch and all team members fiscally accountable and drive the team to meet financially related KPI’s and budgets.
    • Other duties as assigned or initiated.

    What you will bring....

    • Strong business acumen with the ability to grow and drive the branch forward commercially
    • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Logistics and Supply Chain, Transportation, or associate field), or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement)
    • 7-10 years of experience in freight forwarding required with sales/account management experience encouraged
    • 7-10 years of supervisory experience required
    • Completion of any industry related course is an asset
    • Supervisor: 7 years (Required)
    • Freight Forwarding: 7 years (Required)
    • P&L Management: 7 years (Required)
    • Financial Acumen: 7 years (Required)
